Upgrade Cyberdocs

Caution : before any updates, make a backup of your data!

Upgrade from version 2.1 to version 2.2

We assume here that your installation directory is named "pcd-install" and the source directory "pcd-src".

Below, the main steps to upgrade Cyberdocs 2.1 to 2.2. Adapt the information to your installation.

  • Make a backup of the directory "pcd-install"
  • Download the new version from archive or the Cyberdocs SVN repository (download page)
  • Take your site off-line for maintenance
  • Rename your directory "pcd-install" to "pcd-install.old" and "pcd-src" to "pcd-src.old"
  • Rename Cyberdocs code source directory to "pcd-src".
  • Follow the installation procedure of Cyberdocs conversion and management modules, as indicated in the documentation, but do not install the publication module (do not run installation-web.sh/bat) because it has not been changed between version 2.1 and 2.2. DO NOT copy the old file pcd.properties, but modify the new file.
  • Check, with a ODT test file, that the management and/or conversion module work properly. In case of problems, see the documentation and the FAQ , before asking your questions on the lists .
  • Once your new installation is complete:
    • Delete the directory "pcd-install/production" and move your old directory "pcd-install.old/production" in "pcd-install"
    • Delete the directory "pcd-install/gestion/data" and move your old directory "pcd-install.old/php/data" in "pcd-install/gestion"
    • Replace the file "pcd-install/outils/xslt/utiles/styles.xml" with your old file "pcd-install.old/outils/xslt/utiles/styles.xml"
  • If you use the management module, check that:
    • Directories and files of "pcd-install/gestion/data" and "pcd-install/production" be writable by the web server.
    • The folder and files of "pcd-install/outils" must have execution rights by the web server.
  • Test your installation by doing a ODT or SXW file conversion.
  • IMPORTANT: doc files are no longer supported by the conversion module. You must open them with OpenOffice and save them as ODT.

Upgrade from version 2.0 to version 2.2

IMPORTANT: The full update of a version 2.0 to 2.2, including the publication module (SDX), can be fastidious. Indeed, update SDX requires reindex all your documents. We therefore advise you to upgrade the conversion and management module only, until the release of Cyberdocs 3.0 (mid-2009), which completely replace the publication module.

We assume here that your installation directory is named "pcd-install" and the source directory "pcd-src".

Below, the main steps to upgrade Cyberdocs 2.0 to 2.2.

  • Follow the installation procedure of Cyberdocs conversion and management modules, as indicated in the documentation. DO NOT copy the old file pcd.properties, but modify the new file. If you want to install the publication module using SDX 2.3b1, you must reindex all documents currently online on your site. Make sure you have the list of necessary files and see the documentation to make an indexation in mass. If you do not install the publication module, you should not run installation-web.sh/bat.
  • Recreate the institutions via the management module interface: by entering the same institution identifier, you will find all your documents.
  • Recreate user accounts (it is not possible to retrieve them from the previous version).
  • Test your installation by doing a ODT or SXW file conversion.
  • IMPORTANT: doc files are no longer supported by the conversion module. You must open them with OpenOffice and save them as ODT.
